Day 29, January 1, 10:37 a.m.

Instead of a New Year resolution in 2019, I decided to focus on three words and try to make them part of my life. I have completely forgotten two of them, but I know that one was “grace.”

In 2020 I set out to change the world and change my life. We all know how that turned out! Sometime into the third decade of 2020, I realized that my phrase of the year—perhaps my unwitting mantra—was “both things can be true at the same time.”

In 2021 I gave up any semblance of trying to commit to anything. I promised myself I would do the best I could. And that became the phrase I used any time I felt like I was letting myself down, but also any time I started to get mad or fed up with someone else, “We’re all just doing the best we can.”

I have no idea what 2022 will bring, but I started it with a walk, and that can’t be a bad thing. #MeetingMorning
