About Ann Sublett

Ann Sublett is the founder of Almanac of the Chathams & the Dutch Towns and acts as the publication's sole writer, editor, and publisher. Sublett grew up in Valatie before moving away for college and then spent 20+ years working in New York City. During this time she amassed a broad array of skills including writing, editing, web production and design, social media marketing, digital marketing, and more thanks to stints at Forbes, the New York Botanical Garden, and Central Park. Sublett has long entertained readers with her writing--both professionally and personally--across a variety of platforms including online publications, blogs, Instagram, and Twitter, and has produced written and visual content in nearly every format on the Web.

After stepping away from her career during the pandemic, Sublett lost faith in the immense corporate powers behind the very platforms that had underpinned her 20+ year career. Casting about for something new to do, she delved into her fond memories of zines in the 1990s and created the prototype for Almanac of the Chathams & the Dutch Towns. The first issue was self-published in March 2023 and was greeted with immense enthusiasm from readers and business owners, and has continued to be published on a monthly basis thanks to an ever-increasing advertiser and subscriber base.

Ann worked in New York City for 20+ years at Forbes, Central Park, the New York Botanical Garden, Sandow, and for Richard Branson at his now defunct record label, V2. Her background in the music industry, non-profits and publishing established her as a digital strategist and connector.

Prior to being part of the early team at Scroobious, Ann worked as an on-staff digital consultant at Luxe interiors + Design where she masterminded and crafted an exclusive membership platform called LuxePreferred. Ann created the profitable business line when she noticed a need for digital education within the luxury design and architecture industry. In this exclusive program Ann conducted one-on-one digital consultations with clients, weekly digital workshops and in-market masterclasses.

As the Social Media Senior Manager at the Central Park Conservancy, Ann launched highly successful PeriscopeTumblr, and Instagram accounts, while growing the Conservancy's already successful Facebook and Twitter accounts.

As the Director of Online Content at The New York Botanical Garden, Ann took an institution with Victorian roots and placed it directly in the modern age. In an effort to show how a botanical garden differs from a park, Ann created a multidimensional campaign using Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and other online media to explain the Garden's three-pronged mission

Prior to joining The New York Botanical Garden, Ann worked at Forbes.com for seven years where she worked her way up from Editorial Assistant to Home Page Editor. During this time she learned how to create, package, and promote content in a way that is succinct, easy to digest, and fun to read.  Also while working at Forbes, Ann wrote a popular cooking blog called A Chicken In Every Granny Cart.
