Day 25, December 28, 7:23 a.m.
This week leading up to the New Year is so strange. Is it Tuesday or is it Saturday? Honestly, I have no idea.
I was absolutely certain this morning it was Saturday. It was not, but it also turns out that it didn’t matter very much. The guys went skiing and the cat and I spent the day snuggling on the couch. It was a day of nothingness that I very much needed. I feel like I might even be able to tackle a few things tomorrow!
I’m tricked every year by December. While it is the month in which winter starts, thinking of December as winter is, to me, not helpful. It’s a different season entirely. When standard time returns, I’m filled with dread that the return of dark evenings is going to weigh heavily, but I’ve found it’s easy to weather because there is much to look forward to.
I’m trying to not dread the coming of January—when the cold digs in its heels and settles in for a spell—but it’s there. Focusing on the fact that after January 3, the sunrises become earlier each day, and the real return of the light will commence. #MeetingMorning
